This revolutionary approach to the practice of yoga combines all the elements of a traditional yoga class with the uniquely elevated elements of aerial arts. A yoga “hammock” or “silk” is attached to a specially designed steel support system and is used to hold you in your yoga poses in a completely new way. You will experience deeper stretching, expand your sense of balance, develop greater levels of strength and conditioning, enjoy the feeling of being completely inverted, feel tension and compression melt away, and find peace and relaxation like never before.

Who Can Come to Aerial Yoga?

If you are just getting started, we highly recommend that you attend one of our many Intro to Sky Aerial Yoga classes or workshops to give you the confidence and knowledge you need to enter our Level 1 classes. If you cannot make it to one of our Intro Sky Aerial Yoga classes or workshops, we recommend scheduling a private session with one of our Sky Aerial Yoga Teachers. While prior experience with yoga is helpful, it is not required.

Is There Anything I Should be Concerned About?

If you have any health issues or concerns, we strongly recommend that you talk to your doctor before scheduling your Sky Aerial Yoga session. Although aerial yoga is beneficial to many, there are certain health conditions that are a contraindication to aerial yoga. Participating in aerial yoga with the following conditions is not recommended:

  • Pregnancy: Many of the inversions can be uncomfortable and stressful to you and your baby.
  • Glaucoma, recent eye surgery, or brain injury: Because inverted poses can increase pressure in the brain, inverted aerial yoga poses are not recommended.
  • Low or high blood pressure, or any heart conditions: Sudden shifts in the intra-cellular pressure can adversely affect these conditions.
  • Vertigo: Sudden changes in position may trigger dizziness.
  • Recent Botox injections (within 48 hours): The reversed gravitational pull experienced during some aerial yoga poses may have an adverse effect on this procedure.

Not to fear! There are still some options for you to experience an aerial yoga class.  We have restorative aerial yoga sessions which are a great alternative for many of these conditions. Please check our schedule for these specialty classes or contact us to schedule private sessions.

What Should I Bring?

Bring your yoga mat, a water bottle, socks/toe sox, a playful attitude, and an open mind!

What Should I Wear?

ALL JEWELRY MUST BE REMOVED BEFORE ALL AERIAL YOGA CLASSES

Jewelry: We ask that you leave your bling at home. Although all exercise equipment is expected to receive normal wear and tear, jewelry often snags the silk fabric causing it to unravel, reducing its strength and effectiveness, and requiring premature replacement.

Clothing: Please wear longer or capri-length, fitted, yoga pants, a short-sleeved shirt to reduce chaffing from skin/fabric contact, and socks/toe sox to keep our hammocks fresh and clean.

Cleanliness: We discourage the use of oils and lotions on your body when performing aerial yoga. This keeps the silks clean and fresh for the next participant.

*Socks/ToeSox are required for all aerial classes*

What Else Do I Need to Know?

Do not eat a heavy meal within the two hours prior to class as the many inversions, twists, turns, and bends performed during aerial yoga can cause digestive discomfort. Trust us…you will appreciate the advice.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to class to complete the necessary paper work, and set up your hammock.

Please arrive clean and scent- free. Other participants may be allergic, or experience adverse reactions to strong odors and fragrances.

Hammocks may occasionally be shared or switched; please respect your fellow students.

How Do I Get Started?

We suggest that you always reserve a spot. A prepaid reservation guarantees your hammock.

Walk-ins are welcome on a first-come-first-serve basis, but due to the small number of hammocks and intimate class size, a spot cannot be guaranteed.

Cash or credit card payments are available for walk-ins. Multi-class passes and unlimited monthly Sky Aerial Yoga memberships are also available for purchase in person as well as online.

What If I Have to Cancel?

Class reservations may be changed or canceled up to 8 hours before class is scheduled to begin. Class fees are non-transferable and non-refundable. However, we are happy to give you the option to reschedule provided you canceled 8 hours before your original class start time. Reschedules are accepted within 30 days of the initial class reservation. We highly discourage no-shows, so come and fly with us!

Do You Offer Other Options to Practice?

Private Sky Aerial Yoga classes, Sky Aerial Yoga parties, and Kids Sky Aerial Yoga birthday parties are also available for individuals or small groups. We love working with clients on a one-to-one basis or in a private setting. Please contact us for more details.
